Twins on a win streak
The Twins are coming into tonight’s game on fire, as they have won their last five against the White Sox and Cardinals. Minnesota comes into this game 15-17 overall and 8-10 on the road. The Twins are putting up 4.47 runs per game this season while allowing 4.97 runs per contest.
Jose Berrios will get the start for the Twins tonight. He brings in a 3-3 record through seven starts with a 3.98 ERA and a 0.98 WHIP. Berrios has struggled as of late, allowing at least four runs in his last three starts. Over 40.2 innings of work, Berrios has 38 strikeouts with eight walks.
Angels sub-.500 at home
The Los Angeles Angels are having a good season, but they have struggled at home, going just 8-10 this season. That actually is after winning their last three at home. The Angels are now 22-14 overall. Los Angeles is putting up 5.17 runs per contest and is giving up 4.25 runs per contest.
Garrett Richards takes the mound for the Angels tonight. He is 4-1 through seven starts with a 3.93 ERA and a 1.37 WHIP. Richards has pitched 34.1 innings this year and has 45 strikeouts with 20 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Minnesota
The Twins have won their last five road games and four straight road games against a right-handed starter. They also have won five of Berrios’ last six Thursday starts.
Los Angeles
The Angels have won five straight against AL Central opponents and 28 of Richards’ last 41 starts against a losing team. They also have won 16 of his last 21 home starts against a team with a losing record.
Prediction:
While Berrios has been one of Minnesota’s better pitchers, he is in a funk right now and facing a pretty good Los Angeles lineup. Richards has been pretty good in his own right and will have the home-field edge against a Minnesota team that is still sub-.500 despite their current win streak. I don’t think the Twins can continue their winning ways tonight.
The Pick: Los Angeles Angels -145
