Giants’ Stratton allows three runs in victory vs. Braves
Chris Stratton yielded three runs in six innings in a 9-4 victory over the Braves on Friday. It was a decent bounceback outing after he failed to make it out of the second inning last time out. Stratton surrendered a two-run homer to Freddie Freeman in the first inning before giving up a solo shot to Nick Markakis in the third, but otherwise he was able to keep the Braves off the board.
He fanned six and walked a pair in the victory and now sits at 3-2 with a 3.99 ERA and 33/16 K/BB ratio in 38 1/3 innings over seven starts this season. Stratton holds some appeal as a matchup play in mixed fantasy leagues. He gets the Phillies on the road next time out.
Phillies’ Pivetta hit hard in loss to Nationals
Nick Pivetta was rocked for six runs while retiring just three batters Friday against the Nationals. Ouch. Pivetta gave up three runs in the first inning, including a solo homer from Bryce Harper. He failed to retire any of the four batters he faced in the second inning, as Harper got to him again with a two-run homer. He was pulled after giving up a single to Trea Turner, but Drew Hutchison gave up a two-run homer to add the final run to his ledger. The rough outing saw Pivetta’s ERA jump from 3.27 to 4.76 on the year. He’ll look to rebound next week against the Giants at home.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are 0-4 in their last four games in Philadelphia and are 0-4 in their last four meetings with the Phillies overall.
Philadelphia
The over is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings between these two teams in Philadelphia and is 15-6 in the last 21 meetings overall.
Prediction:
I don’t think the Giants get back on track tonight. The Phillies are 9-2 in Pivetta’s last 11 starts dating back to last season, they’re 7-1 in his last eight home outings and are 6-2 in his last eight outings after allowing two runs or less in their previous game like they did last night. On the othe rside, the Giants are just 11-23 in their last 34 games versus National League East opponents and are 19-44 in their last 63 road games versus an opponent with a home winning percentage of greater than .600.
The Pick: Philadelphia Phillies -126
