Giants' Holland gets win over Padres in last start
Derek Holland got the win on Wednesday while giving up three runs in five innings against the Padres. Holland allowed four hits and a walk, and the southpaw struck out four. Not a great effort from the former Ranger starter, but good enough with the Giants providing plenty of offensive support.
Phillies' Nola pitches 7 1/3 scoreless innings to beat Marlins
Aaron Nola rattled off 7 1/3 shutout innings to beat the Marlins 6-0 on Wednesday. He made it look easy, fanning seven batters against one walk as his excellent season rolls on. He yielded four hits -- all singles -- and was never threatened in the cakewalk. He improves to 4-1 with a sterling 2.17 ERA and 0.92 WHIP after seven starts. He has a two-start week coming up against the Giants and Mets.
MLB Betting Trends
The Giants are now 2-6 in their last seven games against the Phillies in Philadelphia.
The over is 8-2 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams in Philadelphia and is 5-1 in the last six meetings overall.
The Phillies are expensive but I'm going to lay the wood. Holland isn't good and as the Phillies showed on Monday night in their 11-0 victory, their bats are starting to heat up. Not to mention the Phillies are also 6-1 in Nola's last seven home starts and 4-1 in his last five home outings. Now that the Giants' winning streak has come to an end we should be able to start fading this banged-up club.
The Pick: Philadelphia Phillies -190
