Pirates falling toward .500
The Pittsburgh Pirates had a strong start to their 2018 season, but they have dropped five of their last seven to fall near the .500 mark. Pittsburgh is now 19-16 overall and 9-11 on the road. The Pirates are scoring 4.80 runs per game while allowing 4.43 per contest.
Ivan Nova will get the start for the Pirates on Tuesday night. Nova is 2-2 through seven starts this year and has a 4.01 ERA with a 1.22 WHIP. He has recorded 35 strikeouts and six walks over 42.2 innings.
White Sox consistently bad
The White Sox have lost three straight and seven of their last eight. In the seven losses, they have scored four runs or less in all seven. They are now 9-23 on the season and 3-13 at home. Chicago is scoring only 3.91 runs per game this season while allowing 5.50 per contest.
Lucas Giolito is getting the start for the White Sox this evening. He is 1-4 through six starts and has a 7.03 ERA with a 1.56 WHIP. Giolito has pitched 32 innings and has 18 strikeouts with 23 walks.
MLB Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Pirates have won eight of their last 10 interleague games and seven of their last nine against AL Central opponents. They also have won five of their last seven interleague road games.
Chicago
Chicago is just 7-20 in its last 27 interleague games and 6-21 in its last 27 games overall. They have also lost five of their last 26 Tuesday games.
Prediction:
While Pittsburgh has been trending on the downside, I expect them to continue their dominance over the AL Central today. Nova is by far the better option on the mound. Giolito has been a walking machine and that is going to lead to runs for the Pirates. The White Sox don’t do much at the plate against any pitching, so I think Nova will have a good outing.
The Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates -135
