Houston in a funk
The Astros are coming off a 3-1 loss at Arizona on Sunday and they have now lost five of their last six games. Houston is 21-15 overall and 11-6 on the road. The Astros are averaging 4.61 runs per game while allowing 2.86 per contest.
The Astros have Dallas Keuchel on the mound tonight. Through seven starts, Keuchel is 1-5 with a 3.98 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. He has pitched a total of 43 innings and has 33 strikeouts with 12 walks.
Oakland sweeps Baltimore
The Athletics are coming off a weekend sweep of the Baltimore Orioles for their fourth win in five games. Oakland is now 18-16 overall and 11-6 at home. The Athletics are putting up 4.62 runs per game this season while allowing 4.53 runs per contest.
Brett Anderson makes just his second start of the season. His first start came last week at Seattle and saw him go 6.1 innings while allowing five hits with two earned runs. Anderson had four strikeouts with one walk.
MLB Betting Trends
Houston
Houston has lost five of its last seven games against a left-handed starter. They also have lost five of Keuchel’s last six road starts and four of his last five starts overall.
Oakland
Oakland has won six of its last seven against a left-handed starter. They also have won eight of their last 10 home games against a team with a winning percentage over .600.
Prediction:
Houston is struggling at the plate again. They were shutout twice during this recent losing skid. While the Astros have good pitching, Keuchel isn’t have a great season. I think he will continue to give up multiple runs while Anderson should have a solid start against this Houston lineup that is in a funk.
The Pick: Oakland Athletics +125
