Mets drop third straight
New York was swept in a three-game series at Milwaukee as it lost Sunday afternoon’s series finale by a count of 3-2. Milwaukee scored all three of its runs in the third inning, while the Mets scored once in the fifth and once in the seventh but were unable to tie it. Amed Rosario helped lead the New York offense as he went 3-for-4. Juan Lagares finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run. Tomas Nido was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jason Vargas took the loss as he gave up three earned runs on three hits with five strikeouts and no walks over four innings. Coming into tonight’s start, deGrom is 2-3 with a 3.82 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 49 strikeouts over 33 innings.
Padres win on Renfroe grand slam
San Diego avoided a home sweep Sunday afternoon as a Hunter Renfroe pinch-hit walk-off grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted the hosts to an 8-5 victory over Los Angeles. Franmil Reyes was 1-for-4 with a solo homer in the victory. Eric Hosmer and Wil Myers were both 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs. Francisco Mejia ended the contest 1-for-3 with a triple and two RBIs. Adam Warren earned the win in relief as he threw one perfect inning of relief. Chris Paddack will start tonight’s game as he comes in with a 2-1 record, 1.91 ERA and 0.70 WHIP with 35 strikeouts over 33 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Mets are 5-1 in their last six Monday games. New York is 0-4 in deGrom’s last four starts.
San Diego
The Padres are 5-1 in Paddock’s last six starts. San Diego is 9-23 in its last 32 Monday games.
Prediction:
This should be a fun one tonight with the veteran deGrom coming off a fantastic start against Paddack, who is living up to his rookie hype so far. With Paddock being a rookie, I expect a hiccup or two along the way. I think the Padres will struggle to get anything going against a revitalized deGrom, while New York should be able to carve out just enough offense. And for what it’s worth, as the trends show the Mets have been a much better Monday team as of late.
