White Sox hit the road
Chicago wrapped up a nine-game home stand this weekend with three straight losses to Boston. The White Sox were still 5-4 over the nine games. Chicago is now 14-18 on the season, 6-8 on the road and 19-12 with the over. The White Sox have Ivan Nova on the mound tonight. He is 8-3 on the season with an 8.33 ERA.
The White Sox have one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball. They rank last in the league in team WHIP at 1.55, while ranking second-to-list in team ERA at 5.59. When it comes to hitting, Chicago is averaging 4.87 runs per game while hitting .256 as a team. Jose Abreu is leading the team with nine doubles, eight home runs and 33 RBI while hitting .291. Tim Anderson is hitting .333 and has six home runs with 18 RBI.
Indians take two from Seattle
Cleveland is coming off a surprising 10-0 loss to Seattle at home on Sunday, but they still managed to take two of three in the series. The Indians are now 18-14 on the season, 9-5 at home and 17-14 with the under. Cleveland has Trevor Bauer taking the mound today. He is 4-1 on the season with a 2.45 ERA.
The Indians have been struggling at the plate this season, but are really strong with their pitching. Cleveland average just 3.81 runs per game while hitting only .215 as a squad. When it comes to pitching, Cleveland has a 3.52 team ERA and a 1.20 team WHIP. Only two Indians have double-digit RBI. Carlos Santana is leading the team with five home runs and 19 RBI while hitting .309. Jake Bauers has three homers and 12 RBI while hitting .237.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The White Sox are just 1-5 in Nova’s last six starts and 7-15 in their last 22 road games.
Cleveland
The Indians are 7-0 in their last seven games against a starter with a WHIP over 1.30 and 8-3 in their last 11 home games.
Prediction:
Nova has been a mess on the mound. He has given up 20 earned runs over his last three starts. Bauer is coming off a shaky outing against Miami, where he gave up four runs, but he has been pretty solid this season. His walks are higher than you’d like (23), but he also has 55 strikeouts. Bauer has a great pen behind him while Chicago can’t succeed much on the mound. I think Cleveland’s bats will come alive today against Nova, giving the Indians pitching plenty of run support to get the win.
MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -230
