Los Angeles Dodgers Fantasy Spin
Matt Beaty delivered a pinch-hit RBI single in the Dodgers’ win over the Padres on Saturday. Beaty came off the bench to drive in the first run of his major-league career with a line-drive single to right field off Padres’ reliever Brad Wieck in the sixth inning. The 26-year-old contact-oriented utility infielder was recalled from Triple-A Oklahoma City, where he hit .277/.355/.434 with two home runs and 10 RBI over 93 plate appearances, earlier this week. He’s someone to keep on the fantasy radar in NL-Only formats.
San Diego Padres Fantasy Spin
Manny Machado went 2-for-4 with a pair of solo homers and three RBI in the Padres’ loss to the Dodgers on Saturday. Machado busted out of his early-season funk by taking Dodgers’ lefty Rich Hill deep in the first and third innings of this one. He also picked up another RBI with a bases-loaded walk in the sixth. The 26-year-old superstar shortstop has now gone deep four times in his last four games. He’s hitting .244/.326/.463 with 20 runs scored, eight homers, 19 RBI and one steal across 138 plate appearances. He’s going to be just fine.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are just 1-5 in Maeda’s last six road starts.
San Diego
The Padres are 0-5 in their last five divisional games.
Prediction:
The Dodgers are a perfect 4-0 in their last four games played at Petco Park and are 46-19 in their last 65 games played against the Padres. While they haven’t been profitable recently with Maeda on the hill, I like his matchup against San Diego today. The Padres are striking out at 27.0% clip and Maeda owns an elite swinging strike rate of 14.1%. He is allowing hard contact but spacious Petco Park will limit some of the damage that the Padres are able to do when they do make contact today. I’ll also lay the 1.5 runs and take the Dodgers on the runline to maximize value.
The Pick: Los Angeles Dodgers -1.5 (+125)
