Giants’ Blach holds Dodgers to two runs over six innings
Ty Blach limited the Dodgers to two runs over six innings in a win Sunday. Blach scattered six hits and a walk, striking out four en route to his second win. It was his first win since Opening Day. Through seven starts, the southpaw has a 4.10 ERA and 1.47 WHIP, but he’s only been truly bad in one of the seven outings. The Braves present another test for Blach, when the two meet Saturday in Atlanta.
Braves’ McCarthy picks up fourth win, beats Phillies
Brandon McCarthy improved to 4-0 on the season by giving up one run in 5 1/3 innings on Sunday against the Phillies. It’s a nice bounce-back start for McCarthy, who struggled in his last start against the Reds on Tuesday. Outside of that outing, the 34-year-old right-hander has been excellent, and he’s allowed just a run in three of his last four starts. He’ll be back on the mound looking for his fifth win on Friday against the Giants.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants have won five of six overall and are 5-1 in their last six games when facing a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30.
Atlanta
The Braves are 5-1 in their last six games overall and have won six of their last seven games coming off a loss.
Prediction:
I see the Braves bouncing back tonight. The Giants are 1-7 in Blach’s last eight road starts, are 0-6 in his last six outings coming off five days of rest and are 0-6 in his last six road starts versus a team with a winning record. The Braves, meanwhile, are 5-1 in McCarthy’s last six starts, are 4-0 in his last four outings versus a team with a winning record and are 8-1 in their last nine games after allowing five runs or more in their previous contest.
The Pick: Atlanta Braves -150
