Red Sox' Rodriguez allows five runs in last start
Eduardo Rodriguez was lifted after allowing five runs in four innings Monday against the Royals. Rodriguez barely escaped the first; he gave up three walks, hit a batter and allowed a single before an Alex Gordon double-play ball bailed him out of the inning. He remained shaky afterwards, and he wasn't able to last long enough for the win despite leaving with a 7-5 lead. He'll get the Rangers next time out.
Rangers' Hamels takes no-decision vs. Indians
Cole Hamels allowed two runs -- one earned -- over five innings Monday in a no-decision versus the Indians. Hamels struck out eight batters, but he walked three and surrendered four hits as Texas ultimately fell 7-5 in the series opener at Progressive Field in Cleveland. Hamels is showing way better swing-and-miss stuff this year than he did last year, but the veteran left-hander stands 1-4 with a 4.08 ERA and 1.39 WHIP through 39 2/3 innings. He has a tough matchup against the Red Sox next.
