According to our MLB Public Betting Chart page, 51% of the betting tickets are on the Cardinals to beat the Cubs on the money line.
St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Dexter Fowler (illness) had a pinch-hit single in the Cardinals’ loss to the Cubs on Friday. Fowler hasn’t started a game since Sunday due to the flu, but he looks to be over the illness at this point. He was playing well before getting sick but probably won’t be in the lineup every day with the Cards having lots of options.
Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin
Anthony Rizzo launched a three-run home run and reached base in all four of his plate appearances on Friday versus the Cardinals. Jack Flaherty issued back-to-back walks to Daniel Descalso and Kris Bryant with one out in the third inning and Rizzo made him pay by putting one just over the wall down the right-field line. It was the third game in a row that he’s gone deep and the fourth long ball over his previous five contests. The red-hot Rizzo also singled twice and drew a walk.
MLB Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Cardinals are 1-5 in Michael Wacha’s last six starts against the Cubs and are 1-5 in his last six road outings versus Chicago.
Chicago
The Cubs are 16-5 in their last 21 home games against the Cardinals and have beaten their NL Central rivals in four of the last five meetings overall.
Prediction:
While the wind isn’t blowing in as hard as it was in yesterday’s matinee, it still is blowing in and the Chicago weather will be cool this afternoon. Yu Darvish has not pitched well as a whole in 2019, but the Cardinals have scored only one run in their last two games. Perhaps this St. Louis offense is starting to cool off. The under is 4-1 in Darvish’s last five home starts and is 9-4 in his last 13 outings overall. Meanwhile, the under is 9-3-1 in Wacha’s last 13 starts against NL Central rivals.
The Pick: Cardinals/Cubs UNDER 8.5
