Dodgers’ Buehler coming off impressive outing vs. Giants
Walker Buehler let in two runs in five innings to earn a win over the Giants in the first game of Saturday’s double-header. The highly-touted rookie punched out six batters against one base-on-balls and six hits while making his second start of the season. He buckled early, allowing two runs in the first frame. He gave up an RBI-single to Pablo Sandoval and then uncorked a wild pitch to allow another run to score. He settled down to throw four scoreless innings after that. He has a 1.80 ERA with 11 strikeouts in 10 innings.
Padres’ Lucchesi strikes out six in victory over Mets
Joey Lucchesi allowed two earned runs, four hits and two walks with six strikeouts over 5 2/3 innings in a win against the Mets on Saturday. Lucchesi made one mistake, serving up a two-run bomb to Yoenis Cespedes in the sixth inning. He threw 43 of his 79 pitches for strikes to run his record to 3-1 while lowering his ERA to 2.78. The rookie has emerged as a solid fantasy option across many formats. He’ll look to continue the good work next Saturday against Kenta Maeda and the visiting Dodgers.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 9-4 in their last 13 games in San Diego and have won 60 of their last 87 meetings with the Padres overall.
San Diego
The over is 19-5-2 in the last 26 meetings between these two teams and is 14-4-3 in the last 21 meetings in San Diego.
Prediction:
The Dodgers are just 3-7 in their last 10 games overall, are winless at 0-5 in their last five games played on Friday and have dropped seven of 10 when playing the first game of a series. Both of these young pitchers have been impressive so I’m taking the home dog in a divisional game and looking to cash in on the Dodgers’ struggles.
The Pick: San Diego Padres +110
