Braves’ Teheran leaves start with tight trap
Julio Teheran (trapezius) said Saturday that he plans to make his next scheduled start. He was able to do some light throwing on Saturday and came away from the session feeling okay after leaving Friday’s start due to tightness in his right upper trapezius. The Braves will wait to make a decision on his status for his next start, but barring any setbacks he should be good to go.
Mets’ Vargas crushed by Padres in San Diego
Jason Vargas was punished for nine earned runs, nine hits and three walks over just 3 2/3 innings in a loss in San Diego. Vargas was making his season debut after missing the first month of the season due to a fractured right (non-throwing) hand. It was an inauspicious beginning to his campaign, especially against a terrible offensive club in a pitcher’s ballpark. He’ll get another chance next Friday against German Marquez and the Rockies in his 2018 home debut.
