Braves’ Newcomb pushed back to Wednesday
Sean Newcomb’s next start has been pushed back to Wednesday against the Mets. Newcomb was lined up to pitch on Tuesday, but he’ll slide back a day with the promotion of prospect Mike Soroka. The southpaw owns a 4.23 ERA and 34/14 K/BB ratio in 27 2/3 innings over five starts this season.
Mets’ deGrom pitches 7 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball
Jacob deGrom blanked the Padres for 7 1/3 innings Friday in the Mets’ 5-1 victory. DeGrom improved to 3-0 with a 2.06 ERA in six starts. He’s fanned 30 batters in his last three outings. It looks like he’ll face the Braves in New York next time out.
