Phillies recall Eflin from Triple-A to make start Tuesday
Phillies recalled RHP Zach Eflin from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Eflin will start Tuesday in Miami in place of Ben Lively (back). He holds a 4.05 ERA and 15/5 K/BB ratio over 20 innings for Lehigh Valley this season and could earn additional starts if he pitches well.
Marlins’ Garcia pitches well in team loss to Dodgers
Jarlin Garcia allowed one run over six innings while striking out seven in a no decision against the Dodgers on Monday. The only run came on a solo homer from Enrique Hernandez in the fourth inning. Outside of that, Garcia was once again outstanding, and his ERA is now down to a paltry 1.00 over his first 27 innings to begin 2018. The command still leaves a lot to be desired, but he walked just one tonight, and the swing-and-miss stuff is obvious.
MLB Betting Trends
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 6-2 in their last eight games against the Marlins and are 5-2 in their last seven games in Miami.
Miami
The Marlins are 5-1 in their last six games overall and have won seven of eight at home when facing a team with a losing road record.
Prediction:
The Marlins are the hotter team in this matchup and I’m not afraid to back them again tonight. The Phillies have lost eight of Eflin’s last nine starts dating back to last season and are 1-4 in his last five road outings. They’re also 0-8 in Eflin’s last eight outings when their opponent scores five or more runs in their previous game, which the Marlins did in their 8-5 victory on Tuesday.
The Pick: Miami Marlins -101
