Dodgers’ Kershaw takes another loss, this time to Marlins
Clayton Kershaw allowed three earned runs, five hits and six walks with seven strikeouts over five innings in a loss to the Miami Marlins on Wednesday. Kershaw labored against one of the weakest offenses in the majors, throwing just 64 of his 112 pitches for strikes. He slipped to 1-4, which is exactly how many losses he suffered during the 2016 and 2017 campaigns. He hasn’t had a double-digit loss season since 2010 when he was 13-10, but he is well on his way unless he starts to turn things around in hurry.
Diamondbacks’ Koch earns first win as a starter
Matt Koch pitched six innings of two-run ball for his second win as a major leaguer Thursday against the Phillies. Koch’s previous win came in relief in 2016. He’s pitched well in both of his starts this year, allowing a total of three runs in 12 innings. His fastball is lacking and getting through major league lineups three times an outing figures to prove to be an issue, but he’s giving the Diamondbacks a lift right now.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 1-6 in their last seven games overall and have dropped four of their last five on the road.
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 45-22 in their last 67 games overall dating back to last season and have won 67 of their last 100 games played at Chase Field.
Prediction:
This should be a good spot to take the under, which is a perfect 4-0 in Kershaw’s last four road starts against the Diamondbacks. The under is also 20-9-1 in his last 30 road outings overall and 22-8-2 in his last 32 road outings versus a team that owns a winning record. Even though last night’s game was high-scoring, I see tonight being more of a pitcher’s duel in the desert.
The Pick: Dodgers/Diamondbacks under 7.5
