Dodgers’ Stripling draws the start for Dodgers
Dodgers’ manager Dave Roberts announced that Ross Stripling will start on Monday against the Diamondbacks.
There had been speculation that Brock Stewart would get the start on Monday instead, but the honor will go to Stripling. He has been outstanding in 10 appearances out of the bullpen, registering a 0.63 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 16/6 K/BB ratio across 14 1/3 innings. He isn’t likely to work deep enough into the ballgame to have much appeal as a streaming option.
Diamondbacks’ Greinke strikes out nine but allows five
Zack Greinke punched out nine batters but was lit up for five runs in six innings by the Phillies on Wednesday. Aaron Altherr’s three-run homer in the sixth inning put the skids on what was shaping up to be a top-flight start for the Diamondbacks’ ace. He falls to 2-2 with a 4.80 ERA and 1.13 WHIP after five starts. Greinke has a fantastic 32:3 strikeout-to-walk ratio in 30 innings but has been burned by six longballs already.
