Dodgers’ prospect Buehler fires five scoreless innings
Walker Buehler didn’t get a decision, but fired five scoreless innings in a 2-1 victory over the Marlins on Monday. Buehler did give up four hits and three walks over those five innings, but he struck out five and was able to make big pitches in his first ever MLB start. We saw a glimpse of what makes him one of the best pitching prospects in baseball on Monday.
Giants’ Stratton records second victory, beats Nationals
Chris Stratton earned his second win of the season on Monday by firing 6 2/3 innings of two-run ball against the Nationals. Stratton walked three, but he allowed just two hits and he struck out five. The strong run continues for the former first-round pick, and his ERA is now down to a tidy 2.32 on the 2018 season. Stratton will get another start on Saturday against the Dodgers at home.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
The Dodgers are 4-1 in their last five road games and are 4-1 in their last five games versus National League West opponents.
San Francisco
The Giants are 4-1 in their last five games overall but are just 2-5 in their last seven games versus National League West opponents.
Prediction:
Stratton has been very impressive for the Giants, even if his advanced metrics aren’t great. Meanwhile, Buehler showed tremendous strikeout potential in his debut and he’ll have an opportunity to face a weak-hitting San Francisco lineup. I took the under last night and was burned when Brandon Crawford went deep in a 6-4 Giants’ victory but I’ll go back to the well now.
The Pick: Dodgers/Giants under 7.5
