Oakland A’s Fantasy Spin
Robbie Grossman slugged a pinch-hit two-run homer Friday against the Blue Jays. His eighth-inning blast off Joe Biagini tied the game at the time and ended up being the only offense of the game for the Athletics. Grossman continues to see part-time duty out of the leadoff spot for the A’s this season, though he’s failed to take advantage so far with a weak .239/.311/.373 batting line.
Toronto Blue Jays Fantasy Spin
Brandon Drury slugged a walk-off two-run homer off Yusmeiro Petit to lead the Blue Jays to a 4-2 victory over the Athletics on Friday. Vladimir Guerrero led off the frame with an opposite-field double before Billy McKinney sacrificed him over to third base. Teoscar Hernandez lined out to second base for the second out, but Drury then took Petit deep to right-center field to send Blue Jays fans home happy. It was rather appropriate that Drury played the role of hero on the night that Vladimir Guerrero, Jr. took over third base duties. This was a bright spot in what has been a disappointing year for Drury, who owns a weak .172/.217/.310 batting line with a 34/4 K/BB ratio in 92 plate appearances.
