Rockies’ Anderson settles down after first-inning struggles
Tyler Anderson allowed two first-inning runs but no more, completing six innings in a win Saturday. A couple of singles to lead off the game preceded a two-out, two-run double by Willson Castillo that threatened to derail the train early for Anderson, but he stabilized to get out of the inning with no more damage and then put up zeroes the rest of the way.
The southpaw struck out six while allowing six hits and walking two over his six innings. The win was the first decision, win or loss, for Anderson this year, improving him to 1-0 with a 4.32 ERA and 1.52 WHIP in five starts. He’ll look to make it a winning streak when the Rockies travel to take on the lowly Marlins on Friday.
Marlins’ Urena continues to struggle in April
Jose Urena surrendered four runs on four hits over five innings while taking a no-decision in Saturday’s loss to the Brewers. Urena struck out three and walked two on the evening. Travis Shaw burned him for a solo home run in the second inning, while two more runs crossed the plate in the fourth inning and one more in the fifth inning.
The hard-throwing right-hander has now allowed at least four runs in three of five starts this season. He’ll carry a bloated 5.88 ERA and 1.33 WHIP into a home showdown with the Rockies next time out.
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The Rockies are 5-1 in Anderson’s last six starts after allowing two runs or less in their previous game and are 6-2 in his last eight outings versus National League East opponents.
Miami
The Marlins are 1-7 in their last eight home games and are 1-6 in their last seven contests following a win.
Prediction:
The Marlins are 8-21 in Urena’s last 29 home starts and are 0-7 in his last seven outings versus a team with a winning record. They’re also 0-6 in his last six outings coming off five days of rest and are winless at 0-5 in his last four home outings versus a team with a winning record. This is a nice price for a Rockies team that has won six of their last 10 games overall.
The Pick: Colorado Rockies -130
