Oddsmakers from online sportsbook YouWager currently list the Phillies as a -125 favorite. As of this writing, 53% of the betting tickets wagered at online sportsbooks are on the Diamondbacks to beat the Phillies on the money line. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our MLB Public Betting Page for updated figures on this game.
Diamondbacks’ Koch to get another start
Matt Koch will make another start for the Diamondbacks, manager Torey Lovullo said Saturday. Koch pitched well in his first start filling in for Taijuan Walker, allowing one earned run over six innings against the Padres, so the announcement doesn’t come as a huge surprise. The start is likely to come Tuesday against the Dodgers, a tough test against the defending National League champs.
Phillies’ Lively coming off quality start in no-decision
Ben Lively delivered a quality start in a no-decision on Friday, limiting the Pirates to one run on five hits over six strong innings. Lively walked three and struck out four on the night. He held the Pirates off the board through the first five innings until Jordy Mercer came through with a sacrifice fly to break a scoreless tie in the sixth. His next test will come on Thursday at home against the Diamondbacks.
MLB Betting Trends
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are 17-5 in their last 22 games played on Thursday and are 5-1 in their last six games when playing the third game of a series.
Philadelphia
The Phillies are 4-0 in Lively’s last four home starts and are 4-1 in his last five outings overall.
Prediction:
The under is 6-2 in Lively’s last eight starts overall, is 5-2-1 in his last eight home outings and is 4-1-2 in the Phillies’ last seven home games. The under has also cashed in nine of the last 14 meetings between these two teams and I like Thursday’s matchup to fall under the total as well.
The Pick: Diamondbacks/Phillies under 8.5
