Like rest of Red Sox, Porcello off to hot start in 2018
Rick Porcello shut out the Angels for six innings to move to 4-0 on Wednesday. The Angels loaded the bases with one out in the first, but Porcello rebounded to strike out Kole Calhoun and Zack Cozart to end the threat and he was never in any real danger again.
Porcello’s four wins in four starts matches his total from the first four months of last year; he opened the season 4-14 before eventually finishing up 11-17.
Blue Jays’ Happ improves to 3-1 on new season
J.A. Happ allowed four runs over six innings on Wednesday in a win over the Royals. Happ improves to 3-1 on the season. While he did give up the four runs, he was able to strike out eight while also getting the victory, so we’ll call it a mixed fantasy day for the southpaw. He’ll be back on the mound next week against the Red Sox on Tuesday.
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The Red Sox are 19-7 in their last 26 games against the Blue Jays in Toronto and are 12-5 in their last 17 games overall versus their American League East rivals.
Toronto
The Blue Jays have won five of Happ’s last seven starts versus the Red Sox.
Prediction:
I realize Toronto has had success against Boston with Happ on the mound but Porcello and the Red Sox are too hot to pass up, especially given that the price is only -120 on the money line. The Red Sox are 9-2 in their last 11 road games, are 17-4 on the year, and have won 21 of their last 27 games versus the rest of the division.
The Pick: Boston Red Sox -120
