Red Sox' Price cooled Angels' hot bats in last outing
David Price (hand) made his road start Tuesday against the Angels and he allowed just one run, three hits and four walks with six strikeouts in the win.
Price left his last start due to numbness in his hand, and he was limited to 78 pitches in this one. He struck around long enough to qualify for the victory, and with the scoreboard reading 9-1, manager Alex Cora played it safe and lifted the southpaw rather than risk any kind of a setback or injury.
A's Mengden coming off excellent start vs. White Sox
Daniel Mengden gave up just one run over eight-plus innings in an 8-1 victory over the White Sox on Monday. Mengden was given a shot to get the complete game shutout, but he was pulled after a solo homer to Jose Abreu in the top of the ninth.
Take away that pitch and it was Mengden at his best. It's tough to believe that he'll fare this well in his next outing when he faces the Red Sox on Sunday. (Rotoworld)
MLB Betting Trends
The Red SOx are 13-6 in their last 19 games versus the A's but are just 16-35 in their last 51 games in Oakland.
The A's are 7-3 in Mengden's last 10 starts overall but are just 4-10 in his last 14 home outings.
I'm taking a flier on the A's with the plus odds. Oakland is 4-1 in its last five home games, is 5-1 in its last six games overall, and is 12-3 in its last 15 games played on Sunday. Outside of a bad outing against the Yankees (whom he struggles with), Price has been great this season. But after beating Sale on Sunday, the A's should be confident in their ability to get another win.
The Pick: Oakland A's +120
