Nationals’ Strasburg to try to get back on track following poor start
Stephen Strasburg struggled against the Rockies on Sunday, allowing four runs in six innings in a no-decision.
Strasburg allowed just four hits and one walk, and he struck out five. There wasn’t a ton of hard contact allowed in this one, but the 29-year-old righty just didn’t have his normal quality command. He’ll try and get back on track on Saturday when he travels to Los Angeles to take on the Dodgers.
Dodgers’ Ryu off to a good start in 2018
Hyun-Jin Ryu pitched six innings of two-run baseball while striking out nine in a victory over the Padres on Monday.
Ryu’s only real mistake was a two-run homer by Christian Villanueva, and outside of that completely shut down the San Diego offense. The southpaw has looked the part this season, and now owns a 2.87 ERA for his efforts. Ryu will have a much tougher test on Sunday when he pitches at home against the Nationals.
MLB Betting Trends
Washington
The Nationals are 11-27 in their last 38 games in Los Angeles and are 2-5 in Strasburg’s last seven starts versus the Dodgers.
Los Angeles
Despite losing last night, the Dodgers are 4-1 in their last five games overall and are 6-2 in Ryu’s last eight home starts.
Prediction:
The Nationals are 55-16 in Strasburg’s last 71 starts, are 37-18 in his last 55 road outings and have cashed in 40 of his last 54 starts when facing a team with a losing record. Meanwhile, the Dodgers have dropped six of Ryu’s last eight starts and while L.A. is usually a nice bet to rebound off a loss, the Nationals’ price is too good to pass up with Strasburg on the mound.
The Pick: Washington Nationals -115
