Tigers on a hot streak?
Thanks to a 13-8 win on Thursday, the Tigers completed their first home sweep of the season and are now 7-9 overall and 4-5 at home. Detroit is now putting up 4.5 runs per game on offense while allowing 4.56 runs per contest.
Michael Fulmer is coming off a really poor start at Cleveland, allowing six earned runs in three innings of work. He is just 1-2 on the season with a 3.86 ERA and a 1.41 WHIP Fulmer has nine strikeouts with five walks over 16.1 innings.
Royals in a free fall
Kansas City was off on Thursday, so it couldn’t add to its current eight-game losing streak. They are coming off just getting swept at Toronto. The Royals are now 3-13 overall and 2-6 on the road. KC is putting up just 3.19 runs per contest, while allowing 5.62 per contest.
Jason Hammel gets the start for the Royals this afternoon. He is 0-1 through three starts. Hammel has pitched 16.1 innings and allowed seven earned runs with five walks and 12 strikeouts. He has a 1.41 WHIP with a 3.86 ERA.
MLB Betting Trends
Kansas City
The Royals have lost eight of their last 11 Friday games and six of their last eight games against AL Central opponents. KC also has lost six of Hammel’s last seven starts.
Detroit
Detroit has won four of Fulmer’s last five Friday starts, but they are just 5-25 in their last 30 openers as part of a double header.
Prediction:
There’s just nothing to like about Kansas City right now. While the Tigers have their own flaws and concerns, KC can’t pitch and they can’t hit. The Royals are without two of their best players due to injury and just can’t score consistently. Fulmer got rocked by Cleveland, but should be able to bounce back just fine against this Royals’ batting order.
The Pick: Detroit Tigers -125
