The San Francisco Giants can’t hit and it’s costing them games early in 2018. Will Wednesday night’s National League West matchup again be low-scoring when the Arizona Diamondbacks host the Giants at 9:40 p.m. ET?

Giants’ Stratton coming off fantastic start vs. Padres
Chris Stratton was brilliant in Thursday’s 7-0 win over the Padres, firing off seven innings of one-hit, shutout ball.
The lone hit Stratton allowed actually came off the bat of a pinch-hitting Clayton Richard in the third inning, so there’s baseball for you. He finished up his seven innings of work having thrown 101 pitches (67 strikes). It wasn’t the most efficient of outings — Stratton walked three on the evening while striking out four — but it was his best start (by a wide margin) in three tries this season.
Stratton will look to build off Thursday’s result when he brings a 2.60 ERA and 0.98 WHIP (over 17 1/3 innings) into a road date with the Diamondbacks
Ray gets another crack at Giants after shorter outing last week
Robbie Ray was able to fan six Giants on Wednesday, but couldn’t go more than 4 2/3 innings in a no-decision.
Ray walked three, which gives him eight walks over his last two starts. He also allowed five hits and three earned runs to go along with the aforementioned strikeouts. Ray has swing-and-miss stuff, but there are going to start like this because the command is mediocre, at best. He’ll try and rebound from this so-so effort when he faces the Giants again next Wednesday.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are 1-6 in their last seven games against the Diamondbacks and following their 1-0 loss on Tuesday night, they’re now 1-9 in their last 10 games in Arizona.
Arizona
The Diamondbacks are a perfect 5-0 in Ray’s last five starts versus the Giants.
Prediction:
I thought about taking the under again and banking on the Giants getting shutout but the more I look at Arizona’s price tag, the more I like the Diamondbacks on the money line. They’re 4-0 in Ray’s last four home starts, are 19-7 in his last 26 outings overall, and are 16-5 in their last 21 starts versus National League West rivals. Stratton is due to get lit up with that shaky strikeout-to-walk ratio and I wouldn’t be shocked if that happens tonight.
The Pick: Arizona Diamondbacks -145
