Blue Jays rolling
Toronto picked up 11-3 and 5-4 wins on Tuesday to push their win streak to three games. The Jays have also won six of their last seven to move to 11-5 on the season and 6-3 at home. Toronto is now putting up 5.50 runs per game while allowing 3.75 per contest.
J.A. Happ will be toeing the rubber today. He is 2-1 on the season with a 3.94 ERA and 1.31 WHIP. Over three starts, he has allowed seven earned runs over 16 innings. Happ has five walks with 23 strikeouts.
Royals losing streak building
The Royals have now dropped seven straight after losing the two games on Tuesday. Five of the seven losses have come by double digits. KC is now 3-12 overall and 2-5 on the road. The Royals are averaging only 3.07 runs per game this season while allowing 5.00 per contest.
Ian Kennedy gets the start for KC tonight. He has started three games this season and has very good numbers. Over 18 innings of work, Kennedy has allowed just two earned runs with four walks and 16 strikeouts. Still, he is just 1-1 and the Royals are 1-2 when he has pitched due to a lack of scoring.
MLB Betting Trends
Kansas City
Kansas City has lost seven of their last nine against a left-handed starter, but they have won nine of Kennedy’s last 13 road starts. They also have won his last four Wednesday starts.
Toronto
Toronto has won six of its last seven at home and six of its last eight against a right-handed starter. However, they have lost seven straight Wednesday games.
Prediction:
There is not much to like about the Royals right now, but Kennedy has been really stellar on the mound. If KC is going to get back on track, I think it will happen with Kennedy. Happ hasn’t been strong enough to assume he can outduel Kennedy today. Given how big the odds are in this game, I think the Royals have value as a big underdog.
The Pick: Kansas City Royals +185
