Cubs vs. Marlins Wednesday Prediction
The Cubs will go for the sweep of the Marlins tonight at 7:10 p.m. ET in Miami. Given the pitching matchup and Miami’s light-hitting offense, is the under the best play on the board?

Chicago Cubs Fantasy Spin
Javier Baez went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored in Tuesday’s win over the Marlins. Baez hit a solo shot in the eighth inning to extend the Cubs’ lead, his fifth homer of the season. He’s now had three straight three-hit efforts, raising his overall line to .314/.342/.600 through 16 games. There’s still a long way to go, but the 26-year-old is answering a lot of his doubters through the season’s first few weeks.
Miami Marlins Fantasy Spin
Jorge Alfaro (knee, chest) went 1-for-4 in his return to the Marlins’ lineup Tuesday against the Cubs. Alfaro missed Monday’s series-opener versus Chicago — and Sunday’s series finale against the Phillies — after aggravating his balky right knee and tweaking something around his chest on an awkward slide Saturday. Despite the lingering discomfort, the 25-year-old catcher has delivered an impressive .310/.356/.524 batting line with three home runs through his first 13 games with Miami.
MLB Betting Trends
Chicago
The Cubs are 1-4 in Cole Hamels’ last five road starts and are 0-4 in his last four outings when he’s coming off four days of rest.
Miami
The Marlins are now 0-5 in their last five games versus the Cubs following last night’s loss.
Prediction:
The Cubs have scored a combined 11 runs over the first two games of the series but Sandy Alcantara is on the mound tonight for the Marlins and he has looked sharp in the early going. He owns a 2.96 FIP through three starts, but he’s been unlucky due to a .339 BABIP. Due some positive regression, I like Alcantara to pitch well tonight in spacious Marlins Park. Hamels should also fare well against a Miami team that produces one of the worst lineups in baseball.
The Pick: Cubs/Marlins UNDER 8.5
