Pittsburgh leading NL Central
The Pirates are off to a great start to the 2018 season. Following a pair of wins at Miami this weekend, Pittsburgh is now 11-4 on the season. The Pirates have won four of six at home as well. Pittsburgh is putting up 5.80 runs per game on offense so far while allowing 4.53 per contest.
Steven Brault will get the start for the Pirates. He is 2-0 on the mound this season through three appearances. Brault has pitched 12 innings and allowed five earned runs with seven walks and 10 strikeouts. His current WHIP is 1.46 and his ERA is 3.46.
Rockies getting on track
Colorado has won four of its last five games following a four-game series win over the Nationals in Washington this weekend. That lifts Colorado to 9-8 on the season and 7-4 on the road. The Rockies are scoring 3.88 runs per game this season while allowing 4.47 per contest.
German Marquez will be getting the start for the Rockies today. He has had two scoreless starts, but also had a start where he allowed seven runs over 4.2 innings. Marquez has a 4.97 ERA on the season with a 1.74 WHIP. He also has 10 walks with 10 strikeouts.
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado is just 2-6 in their last eight games against a team with a winning record and 1-5 in their last six games against NL Central opponents. However, they have won five of their last six on the road.
The Pirates have won eight of their last 10 home games and five straight against a team with a winning record. Pittsburgh has also won six of Brault’s last seven starts overall and his last four starts against a winning team.
The Rockies have some steam building from a nice road series against Washington, but it’s hard to trust Marquez today against a team that has been hitting the ball pretty well. Brault is also looking good on the mound for Pittsburgh. I will take the Pirates to keep winning.
The Pick: Pittsburgh Pirates -135
