Colorado Rockies Fantasy Spin
Nolan Arenado hit a three-run home run, walked twice and scored two runs in the Rockies’ 4-0 shutout of the Giants on Sunday. After 15 games without going yard, the third baseman finally got on the board with a three-run shot off Giants starter Derek Holland in the fifth inning. It was a long wait, but there’s little concern that he’ll find his power stroke after hitting at least 37 homers in each of the past four seasons. After Sunday, the 27-year-old is hitting .254/.324/.365 through 16 games.
San Diego Padres Fantasy Spin
Fernando Tatis Jr. hit his fifth home run of the season, finishing 2-for-4, in a loss to the Diamondbacks on Sunday. Tatis took Diamondbacks starter Zack Greinke deep in the fifth inning for his fifth dinger of the season. He’s now got 11 RBI and nine runs scored in his first 16 MLB games. The 20-year-old continues to live up to the billing, slashing .268/.344/.589 through Sunday’s games.
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The Rockies are just 4-10 in Antonio Senzatela’s last 14 road starts.
San Diego
The Padres have won four of Joey Lucchesi’s last five home starts.
Prediction:
The Rockies struggle for runs outside of Denver and are really hampered by left-handers when Coors Field isn’t the backdrop. Colorado has struck out at a 34.1 percent clip versus lefties on the road, which makes tonight’s matchup against Lucchesi and the Padres problematic. With San Diego laying -167 on the moneyline, the best value is in the under, which is 7-1 in the last eight meetings between theset wo teams and is 4-1 in the last five meetings at Petco Park.
The Pick: Rockies/Padres UNDER 7.5
