Chacin off to a rough start for Milwaukee Brewers
Jhoulys Chacin allowed three runs on five hits and three walks over 4 2/3 innings Monday in a no-decision against the Cardinals. Milwaukee managed to pull out a victory in 10 innings, taking advantage of a rusty Greg Holland, who walked in the go-ahead run. Chacin has a rough 6.59 ERA, 1.90 WHIP, and 7/7 K/BB ratio through his first three starts (13 2/3 innings) with the Brewers.
Quotable: “I think getting us into the seventh inning, it’s important,” Milwaukee manager Craig Counsell said. “It sets us up really well with fresh guys down there. You’re using less guys. Those guys down there have done a heckuva job, but you want to be able to think about the next day and the next day.”
Syndergaard dealt with small blister in last start for Mets
Noah Syndergaard dealt with a small blister on his pitching hand during Monday’s start against the Marlins. Syndergaard referred to the blister as “irrelevant” and said he “was actually more worried about my hair flipping in my eyes.”
“Thor” earned the win for the Mets over the Marlins in that start, allowing two runs (one earned) in six innings of work. He’s 2-0 with a 22/4 strikeout-to-walk ratio and owns a 3.94 ERA. He has yet to truly dominate an opponent but it’s coming.
MLB Betting Trends
Milwaukee
The Brewers have won eight of the last 11 meetings between these two teams but are just 3-8 in their last 11 trips to New York despite their win on Saturday.
New York
The Mets have won eight of their last 10 at home and are 9-1 in their last 10 games overall.
Prediction:
Sometimes we have just take the small win, add to our bankroll and look for more profitable opportunities. The Mets are 10-1 in Syndergaard’s last 11 starts against the National League Central and are 12-5 in his last 17 outings when their opponent allows two runs or less in their previous game. Chacin, meanwhile, is no threat to go toe-to-toe with “Thor” and this Mets lineup should have a bounce-back performance. Minimize your total risk but lay the big odds, take the small win and move on to the next matchup.
