Ohtani creating buzz
Ohtani takes the mound for his third start of the season today. He has definitely been meeting the hype early in the season. He has pitched 13 innings, allowed three runs with 18 strikeouts and two walks. He has a 2.08 ERA and a 0.46 WHIP. He also is hitting .367 at the plate with three home runs and 11 RBI in 30 plate appearances.
The Angels are on a seven-game win streak right now after a 5-3 win over the Royals on Saturday. They are now 13-3 overall and 9-1 on the road. Los Angeles is putting up 6.44 runs per game this season while allowing just 3.44 per game.
Royals continuing to struggle
The Royals have lost five straight, all at home, following their loss to the Angels on Saturday. KC is now 3-10 overall this season and just 1-7 at home. Their hitting has really struggled, averaging just 3 runs per game. Defensively, KC is giving up 4.54 runs per game.
Eric Skoglund takes the mound for the Royals today. He has made just one start this season, which was a poor effort against the Mariners. He gave up five runs and six hits in 4.2 innings of work, taking the loss.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
Along with a 9-game win streak on the road, the Angels have won their last four games against a left-handed starter and four straight on Sunday.
Kansas City
The Royals have lost Skoglund’s last five starts and they have also lost four straight Sunday games. They also have lost five of their last six games after allowing five runs or more in their previous game.
Prediction:
I took a chance on the Royals on Saturday, but they couldn’t come through. The Angels have just too much hitting and too much solid pitching for the Royals to be able to get past. Skoglund probably isn’t the pitcher to get KC out of the funk right now. Ohtani is giving the Angels good innings on the mound and he should get plenty of run support.
The Pick: Los Angeles Angels -1.5 (-140)
