St. Louis Cardinals Fantasy Spin
Kolten Wong had a big night at the plate in Saturday’s loss to the Reds, going 1-for-2 with a solo home run. Wong tagged Zach Duke for the solo blast in the ninth inning, pulling the Cardinals to within three runs at 5-2. He also swiped a base in the contest. He’s off to an outstanding start to his 2019 season, slashing .311/.418/.667 with four homers, nine RBI and four stolen bases.
Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin
Derek Dietrich blasted a go-ahead solo homer in the seventh inning on Saturday, powering the Reds to a 5-2 victory over the Cardinals in Mexico. Dietrich’s game-changing blast came off of Cardinals’ starter Adam Wainwright. Dietrich also delivered an RBI triple in the eighth inning. He finished the night 2-for-4 and is now hitting .233/.281/.733 on the season. While he’s not hitting for average or getting on base much, Dietrich has provided nice power for the Reds, with four homers and 10 RBI in only 30 at-bats.
MLB Betting Trends
St. Louis
The Cardinals are now 1-4 in their last five games against the Reds.
Cincinnati
The Reds are a perfect 4-1 in Anthony DeSclafani’s last five starts versus the Cardinals.
Prediction:
I whiffed on my Cardinals moneyline prediction last night but these teams proved that a double-digit total is too high. The Reds scored five runs but four of the five came late in the game against a St. Louis bullpen that has been otherwise outstanding this week. Plus, if Tyler O’Neill finishes off what would have been a great catch in right field to rob Deitrich in the bottom of the eighth, he would have saved two runs on that play alone. The under is 7-2 in DeSclanfani’s last nine starts against the Cardinals and after two poor outings to start the season, Miles Mikolas rebounded in his last outing. Thus, I see the scoring being held in check again today in Mexico.
The Pick: Cardinals/Reds UNDER 10
