Angels keep rolling on the road
The Angels have won the first two games in this series, 7-1 on Thursday and 5-4 on Friday. Los Angeles has won six straight overall and now are 12-3 overall and 8-1 on the road. The Angels have the top run differential in MLB right now, scoring 6.53 runs per game while allowing just 3.47 per contest.
Garrett Richards gets the start tonight. He is 1-0 after three starts. Richards hasn’t pitched many innings, posting just 15 over the three starts. He has allowed seven earned runs with 12 walks and 19 strikeouts. His ERA is 4.20 and his WHIP is 1.60.
Royals have lost four straight
The Kansas City Royals have lost their last four following Friday’s loss at home. All four losses in this streak have come at home, as they are now 1-6 at Kauffman Stadium this season. Overall, Kansas City has fallen to 3-9. KC is putting up 3 runs per game this season while allowing 4.5 per contest.
Jakob Junis gets the start for the Royals and he seems to be the top pitching option for them tonight. Through two starts, he is 2-0 and has been able to go seven innings each start without allowing a run. He has nine strikeouts with three walks and his WHIP is just 0.50.
MLB Betting Trends
Los Angeles
Along with an 8-game win streak on the road, the Angels have won four straight against AL Central opponents and five straight against a right-handed starter.
Kansas City
The Royals have won the last four home starts for Junis and four of his last five starts against AL West opponents. However, KC is just 1-6 in their last seven games against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
The Angels are definitely on a roll but I don’t feel great about the lopsided odds for this game. Junis has pitched very well and could give KC the spark it needs. Richards hasn’t been poor, but he is giving up some runs. I think this could be a low-scoring game behind Junis’ arm and I will take my chances on the upset.
The Pick: Kansas City Royals +160
