Twins owning the Sox
Dating back to last season, the Twins have won four straight over the White Sox. These two opened their series on Thursday with Minnesota earning a 4-0 shutout win. The Twins have now won three straight overall to move to 7-4 on the season and 4-2 at the home. Minnesota is now averaging 4.64 runs per game on the season while allowing 3.36 per game.
Lance Lynn is set to make his third start for the Twins. The first start was a mess, allowing five runs over four innings to the Pirates. He bounced back on Monday against the Astros, pitching five scoreless innings with nine strikeouts and four walks.
White Sox in a freefall
With Thursday’s 4-0 loss to the Twins, the White Sox have now lost six of their last seven games. During the losing streak, Chicago has been shutout twice. They sit at 4-8 overall and 3-3 on the road. Through 12 games, the Sox are scoring 4.0 runs per game while allowing 5.25 per contest.
Miguel Gonzalez is making his third start of the season. He has struggled in his first two starts, allowing nine runs over 9.1 innings of work. He has given up three home runs and has four walks with four strikeouts. His current WHIP is 2.14 while his ERA is 8.68.
MLB Betting Trends
The White Sox have dropped 16 of Gonzalez’ last 21 road starts and 15 of his last 20 starts overall. They have also lost all four games to AL Central opponents this season.
The Twins have won eight of their last 11 games against AL Central opponents and 18 of their last 25 home games overall. They also are 9-4 in their last 13 games against a starter with a WHIP over 1.30.
Lynn didn’t have a good debut with Minnesota, but he pitched quite well against the Astros and I believe facing the White Sox should lead to positive results. Minnesota has been hitting the ball pretty well and get to face a struggling pitcher today. That should lead to more positive results.
The Pick: Minnesota Twins -170
