Padres’ Perdomo coming off excellent start versus Astros

He allowed just four hits in all while walking three and striking out four. After he was hammered for five runs on seven hits and four walks over four innings against the Brewers in his first start, it was an encouraging start for Perdomo.
On Tuesday night, Eric Hosmer finished Tuesday’s game at Colorado with a pair of singles, two walks and a run scored across three at bats. He collected two hits in each of the first two games in this series and has a multi-game game in four of his last five contests. Hosmer also already has seven multi-hit games through 12 outings with his new team.
Rockies’ Marquez brutal in previous outing
German Marquez was crushed last Friday in a loss to the Braves, allowing seven runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings of work. He struggled with his command right out the gates, allowing six walks while striking out two. The Braves jumped him for four runs in the first inning then added three more in the fifth to chase him out of the game. He owns a 6.52 ERA and a 2.17 WHIP into Wednesday’s outing.
Trevor Story hit a two-run home run in the first inning on Tuesday, which was his only hit of the evening. Nolan Arenado, meanwhile, finished the game with a single and a triple across four at-bats. Arenado has been dealing with some soreness in his left knee but continues to play.
The Padres are just 5-12 in their last 17 games versus the Rockies and have dropped 11 of their last 15 games in Colorado. They’re also winless at 0-5 in Perdomo’s last five starts versus the Rockies.
The Rockies are 11-5 in Marquez’s last 16 starts coming off four days of rest and have won nine of his last 12 home starts.
The over is 4-1-1 in the last six meetings between these two teams and is 5-2 in the last seven meetings in Colorado. The over is also 5-0-1 in Perdomo’s last sixs tarts coming off four days of rest, is 6-1 in this last seven outings versus a team with a losing record and is 8-2 in his last 10 starts versus National League West opponents.
