Dylan Carlson ripped a solo home run Tuesday as the Cardinals took down the Marlins. Carlson looked lost while batting from the left side of the plate in his first three at-bats against Sandy Alcantara. He then got to move over to the right side versus left-hander Richard Bleier in the ninth inning and launched one over the left field wall. Carlson now has two long balls on the season — one from each side of the dish. Those are his only two hits to this point, although he has drawn a couple walks.
Miami Marlins DFS SPIN
Pablo Lopez was handed a no-decision Friday despite holding the Rays scoreless over five innings of work in his season debut. After Sandy Alcantara went six scoreless on Opening Day, Lopez put up zeroes as well. Despite that, the Marlins are 0-2 to begin the year. Lopez limited the Rays to just two hits while walking two and striking out four. He was pulled at 77 pitches, but should work deeper next time out. Coming off a 3.61 ERA over 11 starts last season, the 25-year-old might be one of the most underrated pitchers in the National League. 2021 could change that.
Cardinals vs. Marlins Betting Prediction
The Cardinals are 39-16 in their last 55 games in Miami and are 8-3 in their last 11 meetings with the Marlins overall. The Cardinals have also won five of their last seven games when favored and 47-22 in their last 69 games versus an opponent with a winning percentage that is below .400. The Marlins, meanwhile, are 1-6 in their last seven home games, are 1-7 in their last eight games overall and are winless in their last four games as an underdog.
