Saturday, April 7, 2018
Location: Fenway Park – Boston, Massachusetts
Weather: Partly Cloudy, 45 degrees, 15mph Winds
Time: 1:05PM ET
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Boston is favored in this game, as the Red Sox are getting odds of -170 to win against Tampa Bay. The Rays are getting a money line of +150 to prevail. The over/under total is currently listed at 8.5 runs.
The pitching matchup on Saturday has Rick Porcello on the mound for the Red Sox to face Jacob Faria of the Rays. Faria took a no-decision in his first start against the Red Sox on Sunday. He allowed one run over four innings on four hits and three walks. Porcello went 5.1 innings last Saturday at Tampa and got a win, as he allowed one run on six hits and one walk while striking out four.
PUBLIC BETTING INFORMATION
The public betting for this game is backing Boston. The Red Sox are getting 54 percent of the wagers on this contest as the favorite at home against the Rays.
Neither team has anyone new listed on the injury report for today’s contest.
These two opened their weekend series on Thursday, with Boston picking up a 3-2 victory over Tampa Bay. The game went 12 innings as Boston found itself down 2-0 after eight and had to rally to force extra innings. Xander Bogaerts drove in the tying run in the ninth and then Hanley Ramirez had a walk-off single in the 12th. Ramirez drove in two of Boston’s three runs.
David Price pitched seven scoreless innings for the Sox, but took a no-decision. Yonny Chirinos also had a scoreless start, as he went five innings for the Rays, allowing just three hits. Tampa had to just six bullpen arms as Alex Colome blew the save in the ninth. Matt Duffy drove in both runs for Tampa in the loss.
Boston has won all four meetings against Tampa Bay this season, but all have been by just one run. The Rays have been able to tame the Boston lineup thus far, but the Sox just have too much talent on the mound and at the plate to be held down by the Rays for long. Thursday was Tampa’s chance to get a win and they still couldn’t do it. I don’t see it coming today against Porcello either.
MLB PREDICTIONS: BOSTON RED SOX -170
