PUBLIC BETTING INFORMATION
The public betting for this game is behind the Twins. Minnesota is getting 59 percent of the wagers at home against the Mariners.
KEY INJURIES
Minnesota catcher Mitch Garver is listed on the injury report for today’s contest. He is questionable to play today due to a concussion. Seattle DH Nelson Cruz is on the 10-day DL with an oblique strain.
BETTING STRATEGIES
The Twins enter their home opener at 3-2 following wins at Pittsburgh and Baltimore. Minnesota has scored 26 runs in five games this season while allowing just 13. Eduardo Escobar has a .438 average with four doubles and five RBI to lead the team. Brian Dozier already has four solo home runs this season as well.
The Mariners are also 3-2 after winning a series from the Indians and splitting two games at San Francisco. Seattle has scored 19 runs thus far through five games while allowing 25. Robinson Cano is leading the team thus far with a .500 average and three doubles while Mitch Haniger had two home runs with five RBI.
I know the oddsmakers aren’t big on Kyle Gibson, but he looked pretty good in his first start of the year on the road and I think he will be just fine at home against a Seattle lineup without its biggest power hitter. Paxton struggled against the Indians at home, so he is no safe bet to pitch well in Minnesota today in cold conditions.
