San Francisco Giants Fantasy Spin
Giants acquired OF Kevin Pillar from the Blue Jays for INF Alen Hanson and RHPs Derek Law and RHP Juan De Paula. The Giants get two years of Pillar while the Blue Jays continue to pave the way for youth. The recent Kendrys Morales trade opened the door Rowdy Tellez while this deal should clear a path for Anthony Alford in the Jays’ outfield. Pillar is an excellent defender in center field, but a move to San Francisco is a downgrade from a fantasy perspective. It’s unclear yet what the deal means for Steven Duggar, but we figure he’ll still play a lot given the alternatives in the Giants’ outfield.
Los Angeles Dodgers Fantasy Spin
Chris Taylor went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in a loss to the Giants on Monday. Taylor gave the Dodgers a 1-0 lead when he took a Drew Pomeranz offering deep in the fifth inning. He also singled. Taylor is hitting just .154 on the season even after the two-hit night, but he should get back on track. He’s a solid play against southpaws, and his positional versatility makes him a decent bench option in deeper formats.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The Giants are 4-1 in their last five games at Dodger Stadium but are just 1-4 in their last five games overall versus L.A.
LA Dodgers
The Dodgers are 9-3 in their last 12 games against the Giants when Madison Bumgarner starts for San Francisco. They’re also 6-2 the last eight times they’ve faced Bumgarner at home.
Prediction:
The under has been gold when these two teams meet and when these two pitchers are on the hill. The under is 8-2-1 in the previous 11 Giants-Dodgers games and is 21-6-1 in the last 28 meetings at Dodger Stadium. The under is also 4-0-1 in Bumgarner’s last five starts versus the Dodgers and is 5-1 in Ryu’s last six outings versus the Giants.
The Pick: Giants/Dodgers under 7
