Orioles vs. Astros Pick

MLB Predictions: Will the Astros beat the Orioles on the run line? 4/2/18

Will the Houston Astros continue their strong start when they host the Baltimore Orioles today at 7:10PM ET?

(919) Baltimore Orioles at (920) Houston Astros

Monday, April 2, 2018

Location: Minute Maid Park – Houston, Texas

Weather: Indoors

Time: 7PM ET (ESPN)

According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Houston is heavily favored in this game, as the Astros are getting odds of -210 to win against Baltimore. The Orioles are getting a money line of +175 to prevail. The over/under total is currently listed at 9.5 runs.

The pitching matchup today has Chris Tillman on the mound for the Orioles to face Charlie Morton of the Astros. Tillman started 19 games last season and appeared in 24. He had a 1-7 record with a 7.84 ERA and 1.89 WHIP. He had 63 strikeouts with 51 walks. Tillman was 14-7 over 25 starts in the 2017 season. He had a 3.62 ERA with a 1.19 WHIP to go along with 163 strikeouts and 50 walks.

Bet on MLB for Monday, April 2, 2018

The public betting for this game is behind the Astros. Houston is getting 73 percent of the wagers as the clear favorite against the Orioles.

Houston continues to be without Yuri Gurriel due to a 5-game suspension from back during the World Series. He is due back on Tuesday. Baltimore continues to have Mark Trumbo on the injury report. Trumbo is on the DL due to a quad strain.

Houston started its World Series defense with a 3-1 record at Texas this past weekend. The Astros scored 22 runs in the four games while allowing 11 to the Rangers. Jose Altuve is off to a great start, batting .563 through three games with nine hits and five runs scored. Carlos Correra is hitting .438 with five RBI and three doubles.

The Orioles started the season 1-2 at home against the Twins. Baltimore has put up 5 runs while allowing 15. Baltimore is being led by Manny Machado, who had three hits with a double. Tim Beckham is one of two players with multiple RBI and a home run.

It’s hard to take Houston at -210, but the Astros do have a line of -120 on the run line of -1.5 runs against the Orioles today. Baltimore hasn’t looked good against some questionable Minnesota pitching at home. I doubt they will look good against strong Houston pitching on the road. The Astros should be able to light up Tillman and cruise to a big win today.
