Detroit Tigers Fantasy Spin
Nick Castellanos delivered a go-ahead RBI single in the 11th inning to lift the Tigers to a 4-3 win over the Blue Jays in extra-innings on Sunday. Castellanos came through in the clutch with a two-out single to center field, plating Grayson Greiner from third base with the eventual game-winning run in the top of the 11th inning. The 27-year-old outfielder had been hitless in his previous five at-bats of the contest. He’s hitting .294/.333/.471 through four games this season and remains one of the few fantasy-relevant position players in Detroit.
New York Yankees Fantasy Spin
Aaron Judge went 1-for-5 with a pair of RBI in the Yankees’ loss to the Orioles on Sunday. Judge dunked an opposite-field single into right field off Orioles starter Dylan Bundy to plate a pair of runs in the fourth inning. He also struck out four times. It was a rough afternoon for the Yankees’ offense, which stranded an absurd 14 runners on the basepaths in the loss. There are certainly better days ahead for Judge and the rest of the Yankee lineup.
MLB Betting Trends
Detroit
The Tigers are 18-42 in their last 60 games when their opponent allowed five runs or more in its previous contest.
New York
The Yankees have won 49 of their last 72 home games when facing a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
The Yankees are another huge home favorite and while it’s tempting to back the Tigers given that the lowly Orioles just took two of three over the week in New York, I’m going with the over. In the previous 10 meetings between these two teams, the over is 8-2. The over is also 5-1 in Domingo German’s last six games overall, is 11-3 in the Yankees’ last 14 games overall and is 8-3 in their last 11 home contests.
The Pick: Tigers/Yankees over 8.5
