New York Mets Fantasy Spin
Noah Syndergaard shut out the Astros for 5 2/3 innings for a victory Wednesday. Syndergaard allowed just a pair of singles and struck out five. Always a terrific spring pitcher, he currently has a 1.88 ERA and 19 strikeouts in 14 1/3 scoreless innings.
Washington Nationals Fantasy Spin
Stephen Strasburg punched out nine batters over 5 2/3 innings in his final Grapefruit League start against the Cardinals on Saturday. The right-hander allowed three runs on eight hits on the afternoon and didn’t walk a batter. Most of the damage came in the second inning, where opposing pitcher Miles Mikolas tagged him for a two-run homer. Strasburg wraps up the spring with a 3.38 ERA and 28/7 K/BB ratio over 21 1/3 innings. As long as he remains healthy, he should once again perform as one of the top pitchers in the National League.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Mets are 4-1 in their last five meetings with the Nationals and have beaten Washington four out of five times in D.C.
Washington
The Nationals are 66-23 in Strasburg’s last 89 starts and have won 35 out of his 17 outings pitched at Nationals Park.
Prediction:
The Mets have not had much success against the Nationals when Syndergaard pitches, dropping four out of his last five road starts versus Washington and posting a 2-6 record in his last eight outings in D.C. Meanwhile, the Nationals are 6-2 in Strasburg’s last eight starts versus the Mets. Given Washington’s offensive struggles on Opening Day, coupled with the pitcher’s matchup today, the Nationals are hardly expensive on the moneyline.
The Pick: Washington Nationals -120
