PUBLIC BETTING INFORMATION
The public is backing the Red Sox today. Boston is currently getting 70 percent of the wagers for this game as the road favorite against the Rays.
KEY INJURIES
Tampa Bay has second baseman Brad Miller listed on the injury report for today’s game. Miller is listed as probable to play despite a toe injury. Boston has second baseman Dustin Pedroia out until late May with a knee injury. Pedroia appeared in 105 games last season and hit .293 with 62 RBI.
BETTING STRATEGIES
The Rays managed to rally in the eighth inning on Thursday. After trailing 4-0, Tampa put up six runs in the eighth to grab a win. The rally ruined a 6-inning, 9-strikeout effort from Chris Sale on the mound. Joe Kelly and Carson Smith combined to blow the save.
Tampa got six innings from Chris Archer. He allowed the four Boston runs while recording six strikeouts. Denard Span was the hero at the plate with his three-run triple in the eighth to put the Rays ahead. Alex Colome then closed the door in the ninth to earn his first save.
Boston could use some more hitting. While four runs is usually enough for Sale, it wasn’t enough for the bullpen. J.D. Martinez went hitless in his debut with the team and Hanley Ramirez also had a goose egg at the plate. I wouldn’t expect that to continue today. Price still has good stuff on the mound and should be able to give Boston the lead it needs to win today.
