Mets sock three homers in win
Jose Bautista finished 1-for-5 with a solo home run and two runs scored from the leadoff spot Wednesday night to help lead New York to a 5-3 victory over the Giants. Jeff McNeil ended the night 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Todd Frazier finished 2-for-4 with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Dominic Smith went 1-for-4 with a solo home run. Jack Reinheimer ended the game 1-for-3 with a walk and a run scored. Noah Syndergaard picked up the win as he allowed two earned runs on five hits with six strikeouts and a walk over six innings. Paul Sewald earned his first save of the season as he recorded the final two outs, striking out one batter.
Slater hits first homer of season
San Francisco left fielder Austin Slater led the way in Wednesday’s defeat as he went 2-for-4 with a solo home run and two runs scored. Joe Panik was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Gorkys Hernandez finished 1-for-3 with a run. Carson Kelly suffered the loss as he gave up four runs (two earned) on seven hits with four strikeouts and no walks over six innings.
Bumgarner (4-5, 3.05 ERA) draws the start today for San Francisco, while deGrom (8-7, 1.71) gets the nod for New York.
MLB Betting Trends
San Francisco
The under is 19-8-2 in the last 29 Giants road games. The under is 7-3-1 in the last 11 San Francisco games overall.
New York
The Mets are 3-9 in their last 12 road games. The under is 15-5-1 in the last 21 deGrom starts on grass.
Prediction:
Now that New York is finally scoring some runs for deGrom, he is racking up some wins and his ERA keeps dropping in the process. He is having a phenomenal season in every respect and I doubt San Francisco does much against him today. Bumgarner is typically outstanding too, but I don’t think he can match deGrom here.
