Will Lakers cover as heavy dogs tonight?
The Lakers will be a heavy underdog tonight when they host the Clippers at 10:30PM ET on Christmas night. Will Kobe Bryant and Co. cover the number?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Mybookie.ag, the Lakers are a 12-point home underdog versus the Clippers for tonight's game, while the over/under currently sits at 207 points. The Clippers are 16-13 straight up this season and 10-16-3 against the spread, while the Lakers are 5-24 overall and 10-19 against the number.
Our NBA public betting page shows that 80% of wagers are currently on the Clippers despite the double-digit spread. Even though the Lakers have struggled all season, this is a lot of points to lay on a Clippers team that hasn't exactly been blowing teams out in 2015.
As previously mentioned, the Clippers are 10-16-3 against the spread in all games this year, winning by only an average margin of 1.2 points. The Lakers, meanwhile, are losing by an average margin of -11.0 points but that number gets cut down to -7.6 when they play at Staples Center.
The Clippers are going for their eighth consecutive win over the Lakers and they should accomplish that feat. But given how this will be a primetime game between close rivals, take the points with the dog.
