Will RGIII win Comeback Player?
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) - Robert Griffin III is currently listed as the favorite to win the NFL Comeback Player of the Year but is he a good bet?
RGIII is listed as the favorite to win the Comeback Player of the Year award and with good reason, as he is set up to have a great year. A new coaching staff led by head coach Jay Gruden should be what Griffin needs for a fresh start.
He also has some weapons to throw the ball too with the likes of DeSean Jackson, Pierre Garcon, and Jordan Reed. It also helps Griffin's cause that he plays in the NFC East as Washington's schedule will be a little softer than those playing in the stronger divisions. Griffin will have to stay healthy and a lot of his success will be measured by the success of the Redskins. With that said, if he stays upright and the Redskins make a playoff run, then I see Griffin taking this award.
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning's current odds to win the award are 10/1 and there may be some value there as he looks to rebound from an ugly 2013. Manning is coming off the worst season of his career and really has nowhere to go but up. He still has something left in the tank and I see him having a solid year.
Manning should also benefit from playing in the NFC East and should lead the Giants in putting up plenty of points on the scoreboard. Like Griffin, Manning has some weapons to throw to as well with guys like Victor Cruz and Reuben Randle.
Both of these quarterbacks are well liked around the league with no off the field issues and I expect the Comeback Player of the Year to come out of the NFC East.
