Phillies vs. Cubs Prediction
Will John Lackey lead the Cubs to a sweep of the Phillies today at 2:20PM ET at Wrigley?
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cubs are -200 money line favorites over the Phillies, who have odds of +175 to pull off the upset on the road. Lackey will face Vincent Velasquez in the pitching matchup.
The Phillies have now lost four of their last five games overall and are just 1-4 in their last five road games. They're also winless at 0-4 in their last four games versus a starter with a WHIP less than 1.15 and have dropped 16 of 51 against the National League Central after losing back-to-back games to the Cubs to start this series.
The Cubs, meanwhile, are 41-16 in their last 57 home games and are a perfect 6-0 in their last six games versus the National League East. They're also 60-21 in their last 81 games coming off a win, are 45-19 in their last 64 games overall, and are 65-27 in their last 92 games versus a right-handed starter.
OUR PREDICTION: The Cubs have won 40 of their last 59 home games versus a team with a winning record and are 37-16 in their last 53 games when their opponent scores two runs or less in their previous contest, as the Phillies did yesterday in their loss to Chicago. Velasquez is a talented young pitcher but he'll have his hands full with this Cubs lineup so take Chicago on the runline.
SUNDAY MLB PREDICTION: CHICAGO CUBS -1.5 (-110)
