Exaggerator vs. Mohaymen Prediction

Exaggerator vs. Mohaymen 5/7/16 Kentucky Derby Predictions

Which Kentucky Derby contender will finish higher at Churchill Downs this evening, Exaggerator or Mohaymen? Read on for our prediction.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Exaggerator is a -140 money line favorite to edge out Mohaymen (EVEN) in the Kentucky Derby this evening. Neither horse has to win the race in order to win this wager, they just have to finish higher in the final results than the other race horse.

Bet Today's Kentucky Derby

Keith Desormeaux is Exaggerator's trainer and Kent Desormeaux will be his jockey for today's race. Owned by Big Chief Racing, Head of Plains Partners and Rocker O' Ranch, Exaggerator has four wins, two second-place finishes, and one third-place showing in nine career starts to earn $1,671,120.

As for Mohaymen, his trainer is Kiaran McLaughlin, his jockey is Junior Alvarado, and his owner is Shadwell Stable. In six career starts, Mohaymen has produced five wins with zero second-place and third-place showings to earn $852,850 over his career.

OUR PREDICTION: Mohaymen has elite talent and an excellent pedigree (Tapit - Justwhistledizie, by Dixie Union), but he finished fourth in the Xpressbet.com Florida Derby, beaten by 8 1/4 lengths by Kentucky Derby favorite Nyquist. It's difficult for a 3-year-old to rebound in the Kentucky Derby following a dud performance, so while laying -140 is a bit steep, Exaggerator is a good bet to finish higher than Mohaymen this evening at Churchill Downs. Exaggerator has faced elite competition since early in his 2-year-old season and is extremely consistent.
