Molinari edges Westwood

2010 WGC-HSBC Champions Results Francisco Molinari

Francesco Molinari held off top-ranked Lee Westwood all weekend and did so again on Sunday to win the WGC-HSBC Champions event by one stroke.

Molinari shot a 65 on Friday to a 66 from Westwood and the two shot identical rounds the rest of the way for Molinari to win at 19-under par for the tournament. Westwood finished at -18, which put him in second by nine strokes.

According to oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com, Molinari had 50/1 odds to win the event, meaning a $100 bet on Molinari will pay out an additional, $5,000.

Richie Ramsay and Luke Donald ended up tied for third at -9 while Rory McIlroy was in fifth at -8. Tiger Woods, the pre-event favorite, finished tied for sixth at -7 overall after shooting a 4-under 68 on Sunday.
